increased heart rate after fishing

Scientists in Finland transferred brown trout between tanks and then restrained them for 5 minutes.

This short procedure, not untypical of what fish suffer in angling, caused the heart rate to rise, and breathing to increase by nearly a third, for 3 to 4 days.

"The transfer and struggle both elevated the heart rate for 3 to 4 days. Ventilation rate was elevated to a maximum of about 30% above the nominal level and recovered within 3 to 4 days."
